Carlos Cabrera, MA, CAC III, with 20 + years of experience and bilingual, he believes everyone should have a safe and healing place to work through life's difficulties. His therapy approach is a collaborative process where he guides clients to increase self-awareness, gain new perspectives, decrease symptoms, and increase personal strengths to have a more meaningful life experience. He truly is committed in assisting each individual build on their existing strengths to live their best possible life. Mr. Cabrera has a strong base of counseling experience and will effectively bring his experience, expertise, clarity to the counseling process in order to maximize outcomes and provide genuine healing.

Jacqueline Cabrera - is passionate about Mental Health. She graduated from University of Denver in May 2014 with an MA in community counseling and a BA in Sociology in 2011. Once she graduated she continued her education and became a Certified Addiction Counselor. She was born and raised in Craig Colorado and has enjoyed serving the community she grew up in. She has witnessed moments of clients transforming with great honor and that is what keeps her going. "I am really lucky that I get a front-row seat to observe the change process that many clients have experienced. People start to embrace change, they learn and continue to grow.
Outside of work she enjoys exploring nature, playing her ukulele and engages in various outdoor activities in the beautiful areas that Colorado has to offer.

Lysandra Presley - M.Ed, LPC, LAC, brings 15 years of experience working with teens, adults, families, and couples across a diverse age range. Trained in Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing (EMDR), she possesses extensive expertise in addressing a spectrum of challenges. Lysandra has worked with clients dealing with anxiety, depression, personality disorders, self-harm/suicidal ideation, substance/alcohol use, Schizophrenia, Bipolar Disorder, Co-Occurring Disorders, Mood disorders, and relationship/family issues, among others. Her professional background spans group work, supervision/management, inpatient psychiatric hospitals, outpatient care, emergency rooms, mental health crisis centers, and various Colorado state prisons. Lysandra emphasizes the importance of understanding individuals within the systems and relationships they are part of to comprehend their challenges fully. She envisions the therapeutic relationship as one characterized by authenticity, collaboration, safety, and support, laying the foundation for healing.
Lysandra focuses on clients' strengths and resiliency, striving to equip them with tools to cope with life's stresses. Employing a comprehensive approach, she blends Cognitive-Behavioral Therapy, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, psychodynamic therapy, and Mindfulness in a whole-person, strength-based manner, combining insight with action.
Gary Gurney - is a Certified Licensed Professional Counselor, Certified Addiction Counselor and Certified Domestic Violence Counselor. He has a Master’s Degree in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. Gary Gurney started his psychotherapy career with the United States Army in 1972 working with Veterans of the Vietnam War. Upon his discharge from the military in 1976 he worked for the Steamboat Springs Community Mental Health Center from 1976 to 1981. He then became Director of an Inpatient Alcohol Drug Treatment Facility in Craig, CO for five years. He also was on the Adjunct Facility of Colorado Mountain College in Steamboat Springs, CO teaching Psychology classes for thirteen years. For the past forty-four years he has provided psychotherapy in Routt County and Moffat County.
Gary Focuses on: Individuals, couples, teens, general psychotherapy, substance abuse, Post-traumatic Stress Disorder, Domestic Violence, anxiety, depression and life management.
Kymberly MA, LPCC, is trained in EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing), certified by the NBCC (National Board of Certified Counselors), certified as a Clinical Trauma Professional Level 2 (CCTP-II), Certified Specialist in Anger Management, and Certified Clinical Anxiety Treatment. She believes that counseling should be a safe place to heal, explore, and grow. She has a deep respect for the strength and resilience that people have and she believes that people can re-learn and re-train their brains throughout their lifespan. She is passionate about working to develop goals and find the unique set of tools that will lead to healing and authentic growth. She will work with you to find a balance between making inner and outer changes and accepting yourself.
Kymberly Focuses on: trauma, anxiety, panic disorder, grief, emotional distress, life adjustments, emotional regulation, and effective communication skills training.
Doctor Kathy Gibbs -Ph.D., is a licensed clinical psychologist specializing in working with children and families. She earned her doctorate from Denver University and completed her residency at Children's Hospital in 1990. With 31 years of experience in private practice in the Yampa Valley, Dr. Gibbs offers individual and family therapy, psychological evaluations, EMDR, and cognitive therapy techniques. Heather L. Girardin, EdD, LPC - acknowledges the imprints that people and experiences leave on our lives as we navigate through the journey. Some encounters and individuals bring positive emotions, while others may not. Life introduces stress, anxiety, depression, and inevitable change. Balancing family, work, school, and relationships can leave us emotionally depleted and drained. Seeking help is not always an easy step, and finding the right support can be even more challenging. Heather is here to lend a listening ear. Her approach involves utilizing a variety of counseling techniques because she recognizes that not everyone and their experiences can be addressed with a one- size-fits-all approach.
With a diverse professional background that spans inpatient psychiatric hospitals, rehabilitation hospitals, long-term care nursing homes, outpatient and acute care hospitals, emergency rooms, a mental health crisis center, and a state prison, Heather brings a wealth of experience. She is available to assist youth navigating life transitions and couples working on improving communication.
Kalynn Smith, BA, CAS, - is a native of Atlanta, GA, pursued her undergraduate degree at Georgia State University. Her early years were spent in the outdoor recreational industry, where she worked as a raft guide and ski instructor. Later, she transitioned into the mental health field, becoming a Certified Addiction Specialist. Kalynn is actively involved in substance use work, specializing in teaching DUI and MIP group classes. For eight years, she served as the Executive Director of the Routt County Alcohol Council before merging with Yampa Valley Psychotherapy. Her dedication to mental health was recognized when she received Steamboat's 20 Under 40 award. Kalynn's commitment extends to providing psychoeducational group classes on addiction and mental health to the broader Routt and Moffat county communities.
